The committee did not meet this past week due to Thanksgiving Break. This Wednesday though, our committee will probably hold its last committee meeting for the semester. Both Stephanie McBrayer and Rick McCollum were invited to discuss the status of housing for the end of this semester, the improvements that should take place during the winter break, and the direction for the spring semester.
As a committee, we would like to broach the topic of possibly moving the early deadline for housing and meal plans. Stephanie McBrayer has brought up this issue in a previous committee meeting. While it is not possible for the committee to really act on whatever we may find in our meeting on Wednesday by the end of this semester, we would like to be in a better informed position for when we come back in the spring.
As a commitee, we would like to have a working relationship with Campus Infrastructure in regards to the “Bear in Mind” campaign. Spefically, we would like to see Campus Dish advertised in one of the segments. Since students generally are concerned with housing and food services, we assume that we may have other suggestions for topics in the future.
As a commitee, we would like to have a survey to see how students feel about healthier food options being more accessible on campus, including in the Student Center. From there on, depending on the input and data that we receive, we could consider drafting a resolution in favor of such a suggestion.
Since our committee has primarily focused on food services this semester, our committee wants to end with that meeting related to housing and we hope that our committee will find new ways to address housing next semester.
